Plain-language definitions of the terms used on AI Ball's match pages.
- Head-to-head (H2H)
- The record of earlier meetings between the same two teams, with dates, competitions and results. A short head-to-head record says very little on its own; it is read together with recent form.
- Recent form
- How each side has done in its last matches — wins, draws, losses, goals scored and conceded — for both teams separately, so that a strong run against weak opponents can be told apart from a strong run in general.
- Expected goals
- The number of goals a side would be expected to score on average in a match like this one, given the scoring model. It is an average, not a prediction of the actual score.
- Confidence
- How concentrated the model's estimate is. High confidence means the three outcomes are far apart; low confidence means they are close together and the match is genuinely open.
- Risk level
- A summary flag from 0 to 1 for how much the separate inputs disagree with one another. A high risk level is a reason to treat the estimate with more caution, not a prediction of an upset.
